Adding an Item Alias Group

Note: If you are adding a single item to one customer see Item Alias.

1.When you first enter the Item Alias Group option a Select An Option window will appear:

Select ADD to create a new item alias group.

2. At the Alias Group field, enter a six character alphanumeric code for this group and then enter a description for this group. If an item alias group exists, select the group from the list.

3. An Item Alias table will appear displaying the current item aliases assigned to this alias group. To create new item aliases, scroll to ADD and press Enter to select. An asterisk (*) will appear to confirm your selection. Press F10 to exit the table.

4. At the Item field, enter the item group or press F3 key to display a list of item groups. Select the item from the list.

5. At the UPC or GTIN field, enter the alias group's item code, UPC, or GTIN number for the item.

6. Enter the alias group's item name in the Alias Name field.

7. Enter the SKU code for the alias group's item, if required, in the SKU field.

8. If an EDI Trading Partner exists for this alias group, the EDI unit of measure (UOM) is their ordering unit of measure, used in EDI transactions.

9. In the Default Ordering Unit field press the F6 key to select a pack description for this alias group's item. When orders are created the system will first look for a default pack definition here the item alias group, and if none is found, will then pick up the default pack for the item.

10. Specify the carton fill weight in the Carton Fill Weight field. This is used in association with the cartonizing function and bills of lading case pack quantity calculations to calculate the number of shipping cartons needed to ship the order.

11. At the Sell by Days field specify the sell by days for this item alias if different from the sell by days for the item.

12. Use the Primary COOL in Order field to specify a COOL identity for an item that is requested by the alias group.

Note: The primary COOL may be different than the COOL identity that you have established for your in-house Items, allowing you to create a COOL identity in your system to meet the requirements of a specific customer. If used, this COOL will print on customer forms. A customer alias COOL identity will override an item's COOL phrase IF the item is set to LOOSE control. (STRICT control of an item will always print that item's COOL phrase.) If the item's COOL control is set to NONE, the primary COOL field is not accessible. See Cool Rules Identity.

13. At the Default COOL in Order field specify whether or not the COOL should default into the order during sales order entry.

14. Specify additional COOL identities for this item alias using the More COOL Aliases field. If Y (Y=yes) is entered a window will appear to allow you to specify another acceptable COOL identity, and modify the UPC/GTIN, name, and SKU for that item's COOL attributes, if desired. Command options will appear; select Add to add additional COOLs in this window, or press Enter in the first field to exit the window.

15. Command options will appear:

Select Add.

16. You will be positioned in the Item field again in order to create another item alias group. Press Enter to exit and then Exit to exit. Press F10.
